Development and adaptation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods for radioactive waste disposal

BGE TEC addresses the adaptation of AI-methods to the special requirements in project concerning the disposal of radioactive waste

In the past years, artificial intelligence (AI) methods have contributed significantly to scientific and technological progress. Today, we already encounter artificial intelligence in many aspects of our daily lives. However, the potential of AI methods to improve the forecasting of scientific and technological issues related to the disposal of radioactive waste has not been fully exploited so far.

Together with members of other German institutions, BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH has developed a document that addresses this challenge. This document presents a roadmap of how AI-specific methods can be adapted with regard to the special requirements in repository research and developed and validated within the framework of targeted research and development projects in superordinate and specific fields of activity, i.e. selected areas of application.
