IAEA Initiative to set up an International Working Group regarding Monitoring of HLW Repositories

In spring this year, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna asked DBE TECHNOLOGY GmbH to participate in a consultancy meeting with the aim to discuss the boundary conditions for and the thematic objectives of a permanent working group on repository monitoring. This consultancy meeting took place at IAEA's headquarters in Vienna from June 19 until June 23. After a week of discussions on monitoring, the international consultants defined a draft on the main focus of the working group that is to be established. It is planned to hold a first meeting of representatives of the member states in December this year, where this draft is to be discussed and a concerted work programme is to be defined.
