US-German Workshop
German-American Workshop on Research, Design, and Operation of Repositories in Salt Formations
The US-German Workshop is a well-established forum for scientific and technical exchange among experts from Germany, the USA, and other interested countries. The workshop aims to strengthen collaboration in the field of radioactive waste disposal in salt formations, discuss the latest research findings and technological developments, and share operational experiences. Since the first workshop, the topics and the participant base have continuously expanded. In addition to the core themes of developing geotechnical barriers and numerically modeling relevant processes in repositories, other topics such as exploration, geochemistry, and operational safety are also addressed. This has led to fruitful collaboration, regularly enriched by new projects and research findings in various national repository programs.
