Dr. Toivo Wanne, Head of International Projects at BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH (BGE TEC), the subsidiary of the German Federal Company for Radioactive Waste Disposal (BGE), took part in an international information exchange in Karlstein am Main on 25 June 2026. The meeting was hosted by NUKEM Technologies Engineering Services GmbH.

The session brought together specialists from Europe and Asia, including representatives of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK). Discussions addressed international approaches and practices in radioactive waste management, including the handling of legacy waste.

The exchange provided an opportunity to review technical experience related to cross-border challenges in long-term radioactive waste management. The technical dialogue is to be continued.
