From 26 to 30 January, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) organised the Regional Workshop on Concepts and Designs for Very Low Level and Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal.

The workshop brought together more than 50 experts from 37 countries across Asia and Europe to exchange experience and discuss national approaches to the disposal of very low level and low-level radioactive waste. Our colleague Victoria Burlaka participated in the event and actively contributed to the technical discussions.

A well-balanced combination of expert lectures and practical exercises created an engaging and effective learning environment. The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of disposal concepts and offered valuable insights into national programmes and challenges—many of which were new and highly informative for participants.

The event highlighted the importance of international collaboration and knowledge sharing in strengthening radioactive waste disposal practices worldwide.
