BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH is contributing to the safeND Symposium 2025, organised by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Management (BASE) in Berlin. The event focuses on the theme “Time as a safety factor: opportunities and challenges of timely nuclear waste disposal.”
BGE TECHNOLOGY is presenting several research contributions, including:
- Molten salts as sealing materials for repositories in rock salt (SalVE feasibility study)
- Quality assurance of bentonite as a geotechnical barrier material
- Preliminary design of a disposal facility for high-level radioactive waste in claystone, crystalline rock and rock salt (in cooperation with BGE)
- ELBRock: development of container concepts for crystalline host rock (on behalf of BGE)
- OPTI: a strategic study on optimisation in the context of HLW repositories (on behalf of BGE)
We thank BASE for organising this platform for scientific exchange and collaboration. Together, the participants demonstrate how research and dialogue support progress in nuclear waste management.
