BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH a Founding Member of the German Association for Repository Research (DAEF)
On 16 January 2013, the leading German institutions involved in repository research established the German Association for Repository Research (Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft Endlagerforschung – DAEF) in Berlin. The objective of the association is to contribute to the disposal of radioactive waste and to enhance the effectiveness of research activities in this field.
Among its key objectives, the association seeks to preserve and further develop scientific and technical expertise in repository research, while promoting and strengthening professional exchange among researchers. Its thematic scope ranges from fundamental research and the development of safety and assessment concepts to methodologies for site evaluation and social science aspects related to radioactive waste disposal.
During its first year of operation, DAEF focused primarily on preparing a position paper addressing scientific, technical and social science aspects of repository site selection, as well as on organising an international specialist conference.
DAEF was established by ten German research institutions, including DBE TECHNOLOGY GmbH. Observer organisations include the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), and Project Management Agency Karlsruhe – Water Technology and Waste Management (PTKA-WTE). Cooperation with additional national and international research institutions is envisaged.
