BGE TECHNOLOGY GmbH (BGE TEC) is finally working in its new organisational structure. The implementation of the new structure is intended to ensure effective teamwork among the employees, with optimal management and control of the projects.
The employees are now assigned to departments according to their expertise, which enables a smooth exchange between the experts. The departments correspond to the core competences of BGE TEC: repository technologies, numerical modelling, and geotechnical engineering. However, projects are usually interdisciplinary and require several core competences. With the new structure, the projects are handled by a team tailored specifically to the respective project. At the same time, various projects have similar technical and contractual requirements and can thus be managed and processed in a combined way. For this reason, new divisions have therefore been defined at BGE TEC, keeping the old names: research & development, national projects, and international projects. This means that BGE TEC now operates in a matrix organisation.
The new departments were already introduced at the beginning of 2022, before the necessary processes for working in the matrix could be defined and transferred to the BGE TEC rules and regulations. For this, the entire quality management system had to be adapted. First, the organisation manual, the quality management manual, and the project management manual were substantially revised. In further steps, the subordinate rules and regulations will successively be adapted.
BGE TEC was put to the test on June 20 and 21, when the audit for recertification according to DIN ISO 9001 was due. Thanks to the excellent preparation of the audit by Dr. Lieselotte von Borstel, the audit was carried out successfully. In addition to the new structure, the work at the Asse mine was presented by Astrid Hofschlag and the ELBRock project by Ansgar Wunderlich. The auditor complimented BGE TEC for both the exemplary implementation of the projects and the sensible and successful introduction of the new matrix structure. The positive result was finally confirmed on July 18 when the new certificate was issued.
