Waste management strategies and measures

For more than two decades, we have been working closely with domestic and foreign industrial corporations, research institutions, expert organisations, and authorities in all areas of radioactive waste management. As a result of this cooperation, we have not only gained extensive know-how and manifold technical skills in all operational, organisational, and licensing aspects of radioactive waste disposal, but are also up to date when it comes to the state of the art in science and technology.

  • Providing consulting services and assistance to applicants and authorities in nuclear li-censing procedures of the radioactive waste management cycle
  • Providing consulting services and assistance to operators of nuclear facilities during facility operation
  • Assisting expert organisations in the licensing procedure for transport and storage casks for radioactive materials
  • Providing consulting services and assistance to governmental organisations and au-thorities in the development of nationals waste management strategies, including or-ganisation of waste management, regulatory requirements, and financing mechanisms
  • Preparing waste documentation, including waste characterisation and classification, and establishing waste databases and waste tracking systems
    Assisting in the development of containers for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste and of transport and storage casks for spent fuel elements
  • Planning and developing waste- and plant-specific concepts of conditioning facilities and measures for low- and intermediate-level waste
  • Assisting in the planning, running, and assessment of demonstration tests and in the preparation of safety demonstrations for the licensing procedure under traffic law
  • Developing concepts for facilities for the interim storage of radioactive waste and designing the related handling and monitoring equipment
  • Designing radiation protection facilities and implementing radiation protection measures
